The client’s brief

As an interior decorator, one of the most rewarding aspects of my job is helping clients create their dream homes. Recently, I had the opportunity to work with a client who was building his first home in Morayfield in the Moreton Bay region. He wanted a colour scheme that would complement the contemporary design of his home, suit the environment, reflect his personal style, and fit his budget. In this blog post, I will share how I went about creating an interior and exterior colour scheme that met all of his requirements and expectations.

Understanding the client’s vision

The first step was to understand the client’s vision and preferences. I asked him to show me some examples of homes and colours that he liked and disliked, and to describe the mood and atmosphere that he wanted to create in his home. He told me that he loved the current popular black and white colour combinations and that he wanted a modern, elegant, and comfortable home.

The Colour Selection Process

Based on this information, I decided to use a cool colour palette for the exterior of the home, to blend in with the landscape and create a welcoming impression. I chose Dulux White on White for the rendered walls, Colorbond Monument for the roof, gutters, fascias and front door, black window frames, complemented with PGH Lunar Crescent feature brick walls. For the interior of the home, I used a combination of a white, grey, and black palette for the tiles, carpet, kitchen and bathroom finishes and the paint colour for the walls to create a sleek and sophisticated look.

The client was very happy with the final result and said that the colour scheme matched his tastes and lifestyle perfectly. He also said that he loved how the colours enhanced the features and details of his home, such as the high ceilings, the large windows, and the open-plan layout. He said that his home looked like it came out of a magazine, and that he couldn’t wait to move in and enjoy it. I hope you enjoyed reading about how I created a stunning colour scheme for a new home in Morayfield.
